Balloon-Powered Cars, Paper Bridges and Marble Roller Coasters Inspire Learning by Doing
Raipur, 28 September 2026: The Cambridge Science Department of N.H. Goel World School organised an engaging STEM Challenge for students of Grades 4-I to 11-I, combining scientific learning with creativity, teamwork, and practical problem-solving.
Students participated in challenges suited to their age groups:
- Grades 4-I–5-I: Balloon-Powered Car — Exploring force, motion, and propulsion.
- Grades 6-I–8-I: Strongest Paper Bridge — Applying concepts of structure, load, stability, and engineering design.
- Grades 9-I–11-I: Marble Roller Coaster — Investigating energy transformation, gravity, motion, and friction.
The challenges encouraged students to design solutions, test their ideas, and learn from unsuccessful attempts.
By applying classroom concepts to working designs, learners explored how science and engineering help solve practical problems.
Students participated with curiosity and enthusiasm, developing critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and engineering skills.
The activity turned the classroom into a space for experimentation and discovery, making scientific learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
