Outdoor Science Activity Helps Students Explore Soil and Its Components

Raipur: Grade 5-I students of N.H. Goel World School participated in an outdoor Soil Investigation Activity, exploring the materials and organisms found in soil.

Students collected soil samples from their surroundings and placed them in transparent containers.

After adding water, they carefully observed how different materials settled into distinct layers, helping them understand that soil is a mixture of various components.

The young investigators identified dried leaves, sand grains, small stones, and other organic matter.

They also explored living and non-living components, recognising that soil provides a habitat for many small organisms.

The activity encouraged students to observe closely, investigate, and learn directly from nature.

By connecting classroom concepts with practical exploration, it made soil composition easier to understand while strengthening curiosity and scientific thinking.
