School Counsellor Shares Practical Strategies for Staying Calm Before, During and After Examinations

Raipur: Cambridge students of Grades 4 to 7 at N.H. Goel World School participated in an insightful session titled “What If I Panic?—A Survival Guide for the Brain Before, During and After Exams.”

The session was conducted by School Counsellor Dr. Sunayna and focused on helping students understand how exam pressure can affect the mind and body.

Students discussed common experiences such as:

  • The mind suddenly going blank
  • A rapidly beating heart
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Negative or anxious thoughts
  • Nervousness before an examination

Through meaningful discussions and relatable examples, students learned that feeling nervous before an exam is normal. They were introduced to simple and practical strategies for recognising these feelings, remaining calm and regaining focus.

The session encouraged students to approach examinations with greater self-awareness and confidence. It also reminded them that effective exam preparation is not only about studying answers but also about caring for their mental and emotional well-being.

The programme reflected the school’s commitment to supporting students through both their academic journey and personal development.

Preparing for an examination means training the mind to answer questions—and teaching it how to remain calm along the way.
