Interdisciplinary Activity Connects Classroom Learning with Real-Life Farming Practices
Raipur: Grade 5 students of N.H. Goel World School participated in an engaging interdisciplinary activity titled “Cultivating Crops.” The activity helped learners understand the process of growing crops while connecting their classroom lessons with real-life agricultural practices.
Students explored the major stages of crop cultivation, including soil preparation, sowing seeds, adding manure and fertilisers, irrigation, crop protection, harvesting, and storage.
Through an interesting role play, students took on the roles of farmers and agricultural workers. This allowed them to understand the importance of every stage and appreciate the hard work involved in bringing food from farms to our tables.
The learners also used their art and craft skills to represent the crop cultivation process creatively. The activity strengthened their communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.
This practical learning experience also encouraged students to value farmers and understand the importance of sustainable agricultural practices.
From preparing the soil to harvesting the crop, students discovered that every grain represents knowledge, patience, and hard work.
