In a powerful step toward building a more compassionate and equitable learning environment, the Saksham Department of N.H. Goel World School successfully conducted an impactful workshop on Disability and Inclusion for its teaching faculty.

The session was designed to sensitize educators and strengthen their understanding of inclusive education practices, ensuring that every child—regardless of ability—feels valued, supported, and empowered within the classroom.

The workshop offered immersive experiential learning activities, allowing teachers to step into the shoes of individuals with diverse disabilities. These hands-on experiences fostered empathy, awareness, and a deeper appreciation of the practical challenges faced by children with special needs. The atmosphere was reflective, engaging, and thought-provoking, encouraging meaningful dialogue and learning.

Key themes explored during the workshop included:
• Effective strategies for implementing inclusive education in classrooms
• The impact of excessive screen time on children’s cognitive and emotional development
• An overview of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
• Inclusive provisions under the National Education Policy 2020
• The role of the Right to Education Act, 2009 in ensuring equitable access
• Cognitive motor activities and classroom energisers to enhance participation

A significant segment of the session focused on neurodiversity, offering clarity on conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Intellectual Disability (ID), and Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). Teachers were guided through common symptoms, classroom implications, and practical intervention strategies to better support diverse learners.

The workshop was led by Mr. Kaushlendra Kumar, Head of the Saksham Department, and ably supported by his dedicated team members—Mr. Vinay Kumar, Ms. Joycee Penumaka, Mr. Jaideep Sahu, and Ms. Toshi Verma—whose collaborative efforts ensured a rich and insightful learning experience.

Principal Dr. Awinash Pandey lauded the initiative, appreciating the faculty’s commitment to taking inclusion to the next level. He emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and encouraged teachers to stay updated with foundational theories such as Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory and key concepts from Educational Psychology. He also recommended referring to resources developed by premier institutions like NIEPID and NIMHANS to deepen understanding and strengthen inclusive practices.

The workshop concluded on a note of renewed commitment, reinforcing the school’s vision of creating classrooms where diversity is celebrated, differences are respected, and every learner is given the opportunity to thrive.

At N.H. Goel World School, inclusion is not just a policy—it is a promise.
