Raipur | 3 May 2026
In a remarkable celebration of experiential learning, the senior students of NHGWS set forth on an unforgettable educational expedition across the vibrant landscapes of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu from 27th April to 3rd May 2026. A spirited group of 86 students from Grades 9–12, accompanied by 8 dedicated faculty members, journeyed through Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ooty, Coonoor, and Coimbatore—transforming textbooks into living experiences.

A Journey Beyond Classrooms
Education finds its true power when it steps beyond the confines of four walls. This week-long expedition was meticulously designed to blend scientific exploration, historical immersion, ecological awareness, and spiritual reflection—offering students a holistic understanding of India’s diverse heritage.

Day 1: Igniting Scientific Curiosity in Bengaluru
The journey commenced with the group flying from Raipur to Bengaluru. Their first destination was the iconic Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum—a hub of innovation and imagination.
Students engaged with interactive exhibits on engines, space exploration, biotechnology, and robotics. For budding scientists and engineers, it was a hands-on encounter with the mechanical and technological marvels shaping modern India.
Day 2: Architectural Grandeur and Cultural Grace
The second day began at the magnificent ISKCON Temple Bangalore—a stunning fusion of contemporary design and traditional temple architecture.
The journey then led to Mysuru, where the towering spires of St. Philomena’s Church stood as a testament to Neo-Gothic brilliance. Students were enthralled by its stained-glass artistry, gaining insight into India’s architectural diversity.
Day 3: Echoes of Royalty and Engineering Marvels
The third day unfolded as a living history lesson. At Chamundi Hills, students observed the sweeping geography of the Deccan Plateau.
The majestic Mysore Palace transported them to the era of the Wodeyar dynasty, where ornate ivory doors and the resplendent Durbar Hall narrated tales of regal splendor.
As dusk fell, the illuminated fountains of Brindavan Gardens dazzled the group. The synchronized Musical Light Show beautifully demonstrated how engineering precision and artistic vision can harmoniously coexist.
Day 4: Into the Wild — Lessons from Nature
On 30th April, the expedition ascended toward the enchanting hills of Ooty. Traversing through Bandipur National Park and Mudumalai National Park, students witnessed elephants, deer, and monkeys in their natural habitats—an inspiring lesson in conservation and biodiversity.
Despite the welcoming rain in Ooty, spirits remained undampened as students explored Ooty Lake and discussed the fragile balance between tourism and environmental preservation.
Day 5: Industry, Innovation, and Peaks of Inspiration
At Sim’s Park in Coonoor, rare botanical species captured the attention of biology enthusiasts. The visit to tea and oil factories proved to be an academic highlight.
Students observed:
- The intricate journey of tea—from leaf plucking to packaging.
- Steam distillation techniques used to extract eucalyptus oil.
- The fascinating transformation of cacao pods into cocoa powder and chocolate.
The day concluded atop Doddabetta Peak and at Dolphin’s Nose, where panoramic views of the Nilgiris inspired awe.
An energetic DJ Night marked the celebration of camaraderie, resilience, and shared memories.
Day 6: The Adiyogi Experience — Where Ancient Meets Modern
The journey culminated at the serene Isha Yoga Center, where the towering Adiyogi Statue stood in majestic silence.
The spectacular laser light show narrated the timeless science of yoga, seamlessly blending cutting-edge technology with India’s ancient wisdom—leaving students reflective and inspired.
A Transformative Conclusion
On 3rd May, the group returned to Raipur, carrying more than souvenirs—they brought back lessons in discipline, independence, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.
From the technological brilliance of Bengaluru to the royal corridors of Mysuru, from the biodiversity of the Nilgiris to the spiritual tranquility of Coimbatore, this expedition offered students a panoramic view of India’s past, present, and future.
The South India Educational Tour 2026 stands as a shining example of NHGWS’s commitment to experiential learning—empowering students to explore, inquire, and grow beyond boundaries.
Indeed, this was not merely a journey across states, but a voyage toward knowledge, character, and inspiration.
