Lakshya House Wins the English Poem Recitation Competition for Grades 6–8
Raipur: The English Department of the MP Cluster at N.H. Goel World School, Raipur, organised an Inter-House English Poem Recitation Competition for students of Grades 6 to 8 at Rangshilp on 27 July 2026.
The competition was based on the theme “Rise and Inspire” and carried the motto, “Where Words Inspire, Voices Shine and Hearts Connect.” It aimed to develop students’ confidence, love for poetry and public-speaking skills.
Students recited poems by well-known writers such as Rudyard Kipling, Ruskin Bond, Rabindranath Tagore, Sarojini Naidu, Robert Frost, Kamala Das, Anuradha Subramaniam and Vikram Seth. The poems shared meaningful messages of courage, hope, perseverance, self-belief and patriotism.
The competition was conducted in three stages. The first class-level round was held on 20 July and was compulsory for all middle-school students during their English periods. The selected students then participated in the house-screening round. Four representatives from each house were finally chosen for the stage competition.
During the final round, students from Karma, Vishwas, Gyan and Lakshya Houses performed confidently before the audience. They used expressive voices, clear pronunciation, suitable props and effective gestures to bring their poems to life.
The judges evaluated the participants on articulation, voice modulation, rhythm, expression, connection with the theme, use of creative props and stage presence.
The final results were:
- Winner: Lakshya House
- First Runner-up: Gyan House
The event was graced by Principal Dr. Avinash Pandey, whose encouraging words motivated the young performers.
A special highlight was the confident participation of students from the Saksham Department. Their performances reflected courage, determination and the true spirit of inclusion, adding great meaning to the event.
The competition concluded with helpful feedback from the judging panel and words of appreciation from the Principal. It successfully encouraged students to express themselves and experience the beauty and power of poetry.
The event truly proved that poetry is the painting of the voice—where words inspire, voices shine and hearts connect.
